Program Committee Application 2022-2023

The OR Manager Conference is going on its 35th year and is the premier event bringing together managers and directors involved in leading the surgical suite for four days of continuing education and networking opportunities.

As the OR Manager Conference continues to grow, we would like to add fresh perspectives to our program committee. We are looking for a diverse group of individuals representing all facility types from different regions across the nation to represent the OR Manager Conference.

We have a strong commitment to improve diversity, equity and inclusion on our program committee. We embrace and encourage differences in age, color, disability, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other characteristics such as personality and personal interests that make our program committee unique.

By participating on the program committee, you will receive several perks, benefits and industry-wide recognition. Please review the roles and responsibilities for serving on the committee listed below.

All applications must be received by August 1, 2021 to be considered for the 2022-2023 conference program committee. You will be notified by September 1, 2021 if your application has been approved to serve on the conference program committee.


  • Serve a two-year term on the committee
  • Participate in at least one virtual and one in-person committee meeting
  • Review and vote on all abstracts for all tracks
  • Develop conference agenda for your track
  • Suggest and invite new speaker(s) for your track where needed


  • Complimentary All-Access Registration to attend the 2022 and 2023 OR Manager Conference
  • Travel stipend and hotel accommodations for the one-day committee meeting and conference
  • Recognition as a program committee member in all communications promoting the event
  • Networking opportunities to engage with Managers, Directors, Executives/C-Suite, Administrators, and other Perioperative Leadership

About You

Committee Roles and Responsibilities

Breakout Session Oversight Committee

OR Manager Conference committee members will review all abstract submissions and rate each one through an electronic voting system. The results of the abstracts will be the basis for discussion at the committee meeting to develop the program agenda.

At the meeting, you will break into groups to meet further with your track peers to identify any gaps in program content. You will ensure each session for your track has the highest quality content and the top speakers represented.

Additional Responsibilities for Sub-Committee Members

As a sub-committee member, you receive additional recognition through the conference and the opportunity to showcase your leadership to the perioperative community.

Track Chair and Co-chair 

  • Be the voice for your track at the committee meeting
  • Complete the paperwork for chosen abstracts and speakers to be included in the program
  • Provide the education coordinator with the content and flow for the track’s program agenda
  • Participate in 1-2 conference calls with the education coordinator and OR Manager staff

Diversity and Inclusion Sub-Committee

  • Ensure the program is well represented with speakers from a diverse group of all backgrounds, facilities and regions
  • Suggest contacts through your network to participate as speakers in the program

Ambassador for New Managers

  • Welcome first-time managers to the conference
  • Mentor new managers onsite and welcome them at the first-timers reception
  • Moderate sessions in the New Manager track

Keynotes, Workshops and Pre-conferences

  • Identify keynote speakers and themes that would set the tone for the conference
  • Review workshop ideas and pre-conference submissions and make recommendations
  • Participate in conference calls with the education coordinator and OR Manager staff

Posters and Exhibitor CE Programs

  • Review submissions for posters and exhibitor CE programs to ensure content meets standards
  • Participate in conference calls with presenters as needed
  • Volunteer onsite at the event for 2-hours during poster set-up

Industry Awards Sub-Committee

  • Review all nominations for each category (OR Manager of the Year, Emerging Leader, ASC Leader and PACU Manager)
  • Vote and approve winners for each category
  • Contact award recipients and attend the awards ceremony at the reserved table onsite

Hybrid OR Sub-Committee

  • Review all proposed technology for the Hybrid OR build-out that’s located on the show floor
  • Actively seek out vendors whose technology should be included in Hybrid OR
  • Volunteer time and moderate sessions that take place in Hybrid OR
